Alaina and Matt are married. They weren’t married last Friday when we did their engagement shoot, but the following morning they said, “I do.” These two live in Oklahoma and weren’t able to make a trip out to California prior to their wedding, so we decided to meet up in downtown Vacaville (which is between Napa and Davis, California) for a quick engagement session prior to their rehearsal dinner. We had a nice walk downtown looking for old walls and shafts of light as the sun began to set. After the shoot I found myself wandering around downtown Vacaville looking for a place to eat and happened upon a film lab. I popped in and asked if by chance they could blow-up some images I just shot (I thought it would be a nice surprise for Alaina and Matt). So, I handed over the memory card that was in my pocket and 30 minutes later, had a bunch of 16×20 prints. On my way back to the rehearsal dinner to drop off the prints, I saw a small frame shop and snagged a frame for one of the prints. I received some strange looks as I sat down on the sidewalk and quickly framed a print in the dark – silly. I was surprised to see the rest of the images framed and resting on gorgeous easels all over the property where the wedding took place Saturday morning. I never stop enjoying seeing a big print I took framed and being enjoyed. Oh’ and while waiting for the prints, I found an awesome Thai food hole-in-the-wall place that was just around the corner. This wedding photographer is loving Vacaville right now.
