Last Saturday was filled with prayer, beer, great music, dancing in every form, galloping horses at sunset, dust, sweat, love and more love. The Barn at Grand Chenier is :30 minutes or so East of San Miguel and played host to Tara and Eric’s down home country wedding. This was a boot stomping, dirt flying, cowboy hat wearing affair. By the end of the night, everyone had danced, many had cried and all had the tired look of folks that new how to celebrate a joyous occasion. As I fell into line behind the many cars making their way down the twisty river road back towards San Miguel, I kept thinking of a little Boynton story I read to PJ often. The story ends in a slow melodic rhythm; the same melodic rhythm as that winding road seemed to carry along the way. “…the moon is high the sea is deep they rock and rock and rock to sleep.” As each car took on it’s own driving rhythm, I could see the tail lights going back and forth, up and down and disappear and then reappear with each change in direction. And the cars rocked, and the families took in through the open windows a cool summer breeze; peace was present and a good nights rest wasn’t far away for anyone.
Be sure to check out the little video (below) I put together as I was photographing Tara and Eric’s wedding throughout the day.
