2 days in Sedona and what camera should I buy?

This last weekend I met up with my long time buddy Nick in Sedona Arizona. Nicko lives in New York and meeting up for mountain bike trips happens only once each year. Anyways, after a quick alternator swap in lovely Blythe (HERE), California we found our room overlooking the gorgeous Sedona landscape. 2 solid days of mountain biking on pristine trails wasn’t near enough but, we both needed to get back in time for Thanksgiving dinner.

During the holiday season, I’m asked over and over again, “which camera do you recommend?” Well, the pictures below were taken with the Canon S95 (HERE) and the Nikon D7000 + 24mm 2.8 AF lens (HERE and HERE). The S95 is one of my favorite cameras as it fits inside my pants pocket and takes great pictures for a camera of this size. It has full manual controls as well as beginner settings all very easily accessed. I believe the S95 is on sale for under $300 this week at Amazon.com. The Nikon D7000 isĀ  a joy for me to use as it is much smaller than my pro cameras and still takes amazing, almost pro quality images (and the battery seems to last forever). I’m very impressed and highly recommend both cameras.

So, my answer this year to the “what camera should I get….” question is the Nikon D7000 and/or the Canon S95.

Happy Thanksgiving!
