Last night Chantel and John wanted to check out the old barns at Froom Ranch in San Luis Obispo. The wind was insane as it blew straight down Los Osos Valley Road from the Pacific. As we were shooting by the barns, I saw a shaft of light makes its way through a small opening in the valley above. I pointed out what I was seeing to Chantel and John and they were very much game to chase it down (luckily Chantel had worn her boots and was up for just about anything). Some of the best photography comes when taking calculated risks. I read recently that “an artist is someone that is innovative and pushes themselves to improve and revolutionize.” I agree, except that I think the best artists are also those willing to take chances and risk failure. I was reminded of this last night as Chantel, John and I were skirting over rocks to get to a shaft of light that could have very well been gone by the time we got there.
Thanks Chantel and John for a great evening…..I will see you in 2013!
